OXFORD COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY

PROSECUTORIAL DISTRICT III

District Attorney: Neil E. McLean Jr.

DEPARTMENT NARRATIVE

The District Attorney’s office serves to prosecute all criminal matters that occur within its jurisdiction, apart from murder charges, which are handled by the Attorney General’s Office. In Maine, each county is assigned to one of eight prosecutorial districts, with Oxford County being assigned to District Three. Each district is composed of a District Attorney, who is elected by the district’s citizens and serves a 4-year term, Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs - more commonly referred to as prosecutors), Victim-Witness Advocates, and legal and office support staff.
